Antwerp and Hamburg-based dream-pop duo THE DAY will release their new single "June" on March 4, 2022. After the bitter "Empty" from autumn 2021, the track is already the second glimpse into The Day's new album, which will be released at the end of 2022.

The gently flowing and introverted "June" tells of memories of a friendship that has disappeared unnoticed. It takes a nostalgic look back at a time that felt so much more lighthearted.


The Day on "June":

"'June' is a real coming-of-age song. The song is about a deep friendship that somehow got lost on the way to adulthood. The lyrics tell of the carelessness of teenagers, of the unclear boundaries between friendship and love, of living in the moment. At the same time, fears and worries emerge, about one's own future, about the world itself. The older you get, the more space they take up and push friendship more and more into the background until it finally fades away completely."

Over the past year, The Day not only had to deal with various lockdowns. On top, closed borders and different national regulations stood in the way of their collaborative band. For a pan-European project like The Day, there is simply no common day-to-day life during the pandemic, no basis for working together in the same place. With the current relaxations, a band like The Day is now possible again. They now have a new hopeful starting point.

The Day release two DIY EPs and their debut album "Midnight Parade" in early 2019. After a series of tasteful cover versions, the band continues to formulate their own version of pop music. A music that is intimate without being imposing. That is meant to connect and looks forward. Restrained, melancholic and always touching the heart.
