about

Soon I Will Forget: A heartfelt reunion. That one hug after a very long time. A circle closing.

The Dutch-German duo THE DAY plays an emotional, full band set-up streaming show in June of this year, after they could not even meet each other for a long time due to Corona. While there are already some hurdles to keep an international band running at all, it has become a real challenge since spring of this year. Laura Loeters from Utrecht, who just moved to Antwerp, and Gregor Sonnenberg in Hamburg are living in lockdown in their cities and try to deal with their respective situations. And as contradictory and frustrating as it is to organize everyday life under the new conditions, it gets even worse for band across national borders.

Shows get cancelled, the band's fragile infrastructure breaks away; so far so common, and reality for so many musicians currenty. And then The Day get the opportunity to play a streaming concert in June in the retro-modern setting of Pauluskirche in Mülheim (Germany). As a full band, at full volume, no restrictions, no compromise. It's a touching concert full of relief, full of positive energy and full and this very special magic within a band that is self-sufficient. The mutual affirmation for the music and the common work on it.

Four tracks from that concert are now gathered on this EP: "Soon I Will Forget" shows the band with a more rugged and less restrained sound. As an interesting contrast to the dreamy and well-set sound of their debut album "Midnight Parade", the EP also marks the end of the journey The Day have embarked upon with this album.

The Day have recorded two EPs by themselves and released their debut album "Midnight Parade" in early 2019. The band was constantly on the road, supported Kae Tempest live, or shared stages with Turnover. And quite incidentally, they started a series of tasteful cover versions and continue to work on formulating their own version of withdrawn, melancholy pop music: The Day is intimate without being intruding and speaks with an inner calmness.
